ABOUT ME
Welcome to my website. I am Susan.
My path to event planning started right in my community. After years of organizing events for local non-profits, I knew bringing people together was more than a hobby; it was my calling.
In 2017, I formally pursued my passion through event planning coursework at Ashworth College. Following my studies, I spent a year directing events for a local brewery, where I honed my coordination and vendor management skills before founding
A Step Above by Susan.
As a proud mom of two adult daughters, I understand the heart and emotion behind life's biggest celebrations. Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a large celebration, my goal is to elevate your vision and deliver a seamless, memorable event that is truly A Step Above.

Before the wedding, she went over every detail of our day, no matter how small, and asked us all the right questions to help us create a seamless timeline. On the day of the wedding, Sue was always there when we needed her, going above and beyond any request that we had. Not only did she make sure that every vendor showed up on time with everything we needed, but she took care of every small detail, from making sure all the decor was in the right place to sewing a button back on a groomsman's suit that fell off. Sue knew the timeline of the day better than we did and kept everything running smoothly and on time throughout the entire day and night. There wasn't a single moment during our day that either of us felt worried or stressed out thanks to Sue.

Susan was the consummate professional during the planning of our wedding. She offered practical, yet elegant ideas to make our special day perfect. We met with Susan several times and kept in touch in between so she could make sure that every detail was in place. On our wedding day, Susan was there from the beginning of the day until the end of the day and made sure our guests were comfortable and that the event went smoothly. Susan even made a thoughtful gift for us that was displayed and added her personal touch, as well as some beauty to our decor. In celebration of our grandson's baptism, Susan planned a party for our family & close friends at a local restaurant. The meal was a buffet that was well organized. The tables were set attractively, with high chairs provided for the other young grandchildren. Susan thought to include a gift table & a cake table since we provided the cake. I found Susan to be friendly & focused on planning an event that met our needs.

Susan planned my son's 30th birthday party last year. She went above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect! We had some guests with dietary restrictions & she planned a menu to fit everyone's tastes. During the event, Susan was available and attentive to all our guests. She brought us drinks right after the ceremony, made sure my dress stayed out of the rain (even when she gor rained on!), and even captured some candid photos we now treasure.
Susan went above and beyond, from last-minute decorating to making sure every detail was perfect. Our day truly would not have been the same without her, and we are endlessly grateful for all she did.

Susan is a no-brainer to add to your wedding day! She is on top of absolutely everything. We hired her to give us peace of mind to make sure the timeline and day went smoothly, and she far exceeded that. She is so detail-oriented and has so much experience with weddings, thinking of every little detail. She prepped all the dresses and suits by steaming them, and when a bridesmaid's dress strap tore, Susan was there to quickly sew it. She is so genuine and truly cares about her clients. I loved working with her!

We booked Susan as our wedding day-of coordinator - she was outstanding for us. My wife and I did a lot of planning and preparation, but we really needed someone on the day of the wedding to direct and follow through with plans - and Susan certainly delivered.
